CMS Senior Facilities Manager - Joanne Struck has joined the Total Facilities Advisory Group. Total Facilities is Australia's largest facilities management exhibition, and the Advisory Group was setup to ensure that the event stays relevant and topical for the FM industry in Australia. Joanne will be making use of her considerable (over 15 years) experience in the industry, and bringing her extremely strong understanding of living in strata and the unique challenges that residents and committees face to the role.

CMS will be opening a Brisbane Office at Retail 1, 27 Cunningham Street, NEWSTEAD, 4006 in May 2017. The Branch Manager will be Ian Aldred who has 20 years experience in Strata and Building Management. The new CMS Brisbane office is located in the heart of Newstead and is already gaining momentum in the existing client market in growing this operation due to Ian's attention to detail and experience in dealing with all issues that arise in the Body Corporate environment.

Here are some good tips on window safety to keep kids safe:

1. Don’t be fooled by fly screens, they are designed to keep insects out, not your kids in. They are simply not strong enough.

2. Windows should not be opened more than 12.5cm if they are above the ground floor. This is enough to let air in, but not enough for a child’s head to fit through.

3. Window locks can be easy and cheap to install. And remember many options don’t require drilling.

4. If you rent, you must get written permission from your landlord before you drill. Landlords cannot refuse permission unless they have a very good reason.

5. Keep furniture away from windows and the edge of balconies to prevent children climbing up and falling off. Beware of light furniture that children can move around.
